CVIDS was honored to host the 2012 AHS Region 1 Summer Meeting in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on July 20-22, 2012. This event was headquartered at the Hotel at Kirkwood Center on the southern edge of the Kirkwood Community College campus in Cedar Rapids. We toured four gardens within the Cedar Valley belonging to Verne & Mary Moore, Sharon Murken, Zora Ronan, and Jackie Westhoff. Our meeting schedule included classes (e.g. AHS Judges Clinics, a talk on the quest for blue daylilies), a boutique, an auction, and several Open Gardens. We were delighted to have Margo Reed of Woodhenge Gardens (North Garden, VA) as our keynote speaker. Every registrant received an introduction from Paul Owen (Slightly Different Nursery, Shelby, North Carolina). Photos were taken during the Meeting by Lyle Moen and the Papenhausens.
